Wissenswertes zu Hair color

Professional hair color for salons and experienced users is available from Dr.Kalla, the hairdressing supply store from Berlin-Neukölln, with shipping throughout Germany. In this category, you will find permanent coloring creams from brands such as Wella Koleston Perfect, Schwarzkopf IGORA ROYAL, KYO, Freelimix, Black Professional, and Evelon Pro, as well as semi-permanent tints, creative Directions colors, color foam, and a color remover. Several color systems offer over 100 shades, which you can find in the color selection on the product page. Ammonia-free coloring is offered, for example, by KYO and the ammonia-free Sintesis from Black Professional. You can find the appropriate developer under Developer & Preparation, and care after coloring under Color Protection.

Permanent coloration or tint – what is the difference?

A permanent coloration is mixed with a developer, can lighten and cover gray depending on the product, and grows out with the hair. Semi-permanent tints deposit color, do not lighten, and gradually wash out. Whether a product is used with or without a developer is stated in the respective instructions on the packaging.

How do I read the shade numbers?

In almost all systems, the number before the dot, slash, or hyphen represents the color depth – from 1 for black to 10 or 12 for the lightest blonde. The digits that follow describe the reflection, such as an ash, gold, or copper tone. Which digit corresponds to which reflection varies by brand; please refer to the description in the color selection.

Which developer goes with my color?

Use the developer intended by the color manufacturer in the specified mixing ratio. Examples according to the manufacturer: Wella Koleston Perfect 1:1 with Welloxon Perfect, IGORA ROYAL 1:1 with IGORA ROYAL Oil Developer, and KYO 1:1.5 with KYO Bio-Activator. The strength depends on the desired lightening and gray percentage; all details can be found in the instructions for use.

What do I need to consider before coloring?

Manufacturers like Wella recommend an allergy test 48 hours before every coloring. Do not color if the scalp is irritated or injured, wear gloves, and adhere strictly to the mixing ratio and processing time. For drastic color changes, high gray content, or pre-treated hair, a strand test will show what the result will look like.
