Choosing a round brush: comparing diameter and bristles
Von Hassieb Kalla · Dr.Kalla RedaktionShare
Do you want to add movement to your ends or more volume at the roots while blow-drying? A round brush must suit your hair length and styling technique. It is not just the size that is crucial, but also the bristles, the handle, and how easily you can release individual strands. These points will help you compare options before you buy.
Choosing the diameter based on hair length and desired result
Smaller round brushes can support tighter shapes, while larger ones create softer curves. This is just a guide; the result also depends on your hair texture and technique. You should be able to wrap a strand around the brush in a controlled manner without having to wind it around the brush head multiple times. For short sections, a very large brush is often unwieldy. Also, check whether the size specification refers to the brush barrel or the entire head including the bristles.
Carefully compare bristles and handle
Pay attention to the bristle spacing, flexibility, and how comfortable it feels when pulling it through. More tension is not automatically better: the brush should guide the hair without tugging. In our range, you will find, for example, a 28 mm round brush with a wooden handle, which features a mix of boar and nylon bristles. If you wish to avoid animal-derived materials, check the material specifications before choosing. A non-slip, well-balanced handle makes it easier to control.
A thermal brush is not automatically an electric appliance
Terms like "thermal brush" or "hot air brush" are not always used consistently. A passive blow-dry brush is used with a separate hairdryer; an electric hot air brush has its own motor and power supply. Do not rely solely on the product name. Check the scope of delivery and the product description. You can compare suitable hairdryers under Hairdressing Tools and Electrical Appliances. Material terms alone do not guarantee a specific drying time or protective effect.
Style with control and store cleanly
Detangle your hair before blow-drying and work with manageable sections. Keep the airflow moving and follow the instructions for your hairdryer, brush, and hair care products. If a strand gets stuck, stop the heat and release it carefully instead of pulling harder. Remove loose hair after use. Clean the brush according to the material instructions and let it dry; wood and electrical parts should generally not be soaked.
Your selection in four questions
- Does the diameter match the shortest section you want to style?
- Are the bristle material and handle comfortable for you?
- Do you need a passive brush or an electric device?
- Are the size specifications, scope of delivery, and care instructions clear?
Compare the features first and then choose the right version. If a question about size or material remains, clarify it before ordering instead of deciding based solely on the product photo.
